About this catalog
Scribe Courses is made by Scribe Media. It exists to answer one question plainly: what free help does Scribe offer for writing and publishing a book, and which piece should you use for where you are?
Who made it
Scribe Media is a book writing and publishing company in Austin, Texas. It has published more than 3,000 books, including 23 New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestsellers. Scribe sells ghostwriting, coaching, publishing and marketing services. That is how it pays for the free material listed here, and it is why many of these resources end with an invitation to talk to Scribe.
Why it exists
Scribe's free resources are spread across a book, a course, two tools, a podcast, a playbook, a blog and a set of short guides, each on its own page and each with its own sign-up rules. Without a map it is hard to tell which one is a full manual and which is a four-question calculator, or which want an email first. This catalog is the map.
It is a guide, not a course. We do not reteach the material. We describe each resource and send you to it.
How resources are chosen
A resource is listed if all of these are true:
- It is published by Scribe Media on scribemedia.com.
- It helps someone decide on, plan, write, publish or use a nonfiction book.
- It is free to use or read. Some ask for your name and email first; we say so on every entry. Where something costs money, like the $9 shipping on the Big Book Payoffs hardcover, we say that too.
- It is live: the page loaded when we checked it.
We leave out Scribe's paid services and its free consult call, because they are not learning resources, and pages that exist only to book a call. We list one resource that is live but not currently running (Office Hours), with its status stated.
How each entry is written and checked
- Every page was opened and read. We describe what is actually on it today, not what a menu or an old link says.
- Sign-up requirements come from the page itself. For tools and forms, we checked which fields are required and whether the result is shown before or after the form.
- Lengths are stated, not guessed. Where the resource gives a length (a 40-minute webinar, 28 lessons), we use it. Where we could measure (page counts of PDFs, chapter counts), we did. Where neither was possible, we describe the size instead of inventing a time.
- Every number about Scribe comes from a scribemedia.com page fetched on the date below.
- Every entry has a limits section. If a resource overlaps another, is dated, is aimed at Scribe clients, or ends with a sales pitch, we say so.
- Every link was tested and returned a working page.
Last checked
Every resource, link and requirement on this site was checked on October 20, 2026. When a resource changes, moves or disappears, we update or remove its entry and its guide.
What we could not settle
Being straight about this matters more than looking complete:
- The Book School page offers the course free by email, but its FAQ still talks about purchasing. We list it as free, with that note.
- No Office Hours session was scheduled on the check date. We list it with that status.
